Q: What should I bring to camp?

  • Enough basketball clothing for the whole week of camp (shorts, t-shirts, socks, undergarments)
  • Bathing suit
  • Twin Sheets, pillow, blanket
  • Towels and Toiletries
  • Water Bottle
  • Basketball Shoes
  • Alarm Clock
  • Prescription medication (let the athletic trainer know at registration)
  • Spending money for snacks and camp store
  • Athletic tape (if you normally get your ankles taped)
  • DO NOT BRING VALUABLES

Q: Where are the campers staying for the basketball camps?
A:
Campers will be staying on the AHA campus in the dorms.

Q: What is AHA Basketball Academy's refund policy?
A:
A $100 non-refundable deposit is part of each camper's registration payment. Full refunds (less $50 service fee) will be issued only in case of disabling injury certified by qualified physician. Full payment is due 14 days prior to camp start.

Q: What is the staff to camper ratio?
A:
We plan on having between a 5:1 and 8:1 ration

Q: What type of supervision will there be?
A:
Each group of 8-10 campers will have a counselor responsible for them all day. In addition senior staff will be supervising activities during the day and at night in the dorms. There is at least one staff room in each dorm.

Q: What do campers do in their free time?
A:
There is very little free time with the number of sessions we are having. Players usually rest or utilize the pool which is located in the gymnasium on campus and staffed with a supervisor.

Q: Will campers be allowed off campus?
A:
No. While enrolled in the AHA Basketball Academy, campers are required to remain part of the camp. If a parent would like their child to leave camp for any period of time, they need to speak to the Camp Director as soon as possible.

Q: Can parents or relatives visit camp?
A:
Yes. You are welcome to watch training at anytime. Please identify yourself to our staff upon your arrival as soon as possible.

Q: Where will the campers be eating their meals?
A:
All meals will be at the AHA dining hall. Campers will be walked over and back by the staff.

Q: Are there phones in the dorms?
A:
No. There will only be a communal hall phone for emergency local calls.  Please encourage all campers to bring cell phones to call home and for emergency purposes.

Q: Who are my roommates?
A:
If you put a roommate request down on your application we do everything possible to honor that request.

Q: How many people to a room?
A:
That all depends on the specific dorms we get on campus. Usually there are two or  three people to a room.

Q: Is there still space available to register for camp?
A:
If a camp is closed, it will be posted on the web ASAP.

Q: Is there medical staff available to handle injuries and illnesses?
A:
We have a certified athletic trainer on staff that stays on campus with the camp.

Q: Will each player get a written evaluation?
A:
Yes, at the end of camp their coach will give them an evaluation of their skills.

Q: Are the dorms air conditioned?
A:
Yes.

Q: Is there any free stuff?
A:
Yes. Everyone receives a free camp T-shirt.

Q: Where do we play?
A:
In the gymnasium located on campus

Q: Is there a deadline to register?
A:
Acceptance into our camp is a first come, first serve basis. Once we receive a signed waiver and application with a deposit check or payment in full, then you will receive an acceptance notification via email.

Q: What if I have an emergency and need to get in touch with someone while my daughter is at camp?
A:
You can leave messages at our office (336-217-7000 x 8500) or you can call the front gate of the Academy at 336-217-7120 for prompt attention.

Q: Can I park on campus?
A:
Yes.  Upon arrival at the front gate, the officers will direct you to the parking lot nearest the fields.
